Hello,
:o 'm a real V at cameras and forums in general but was hoping one of you chaps could recomend a good wrist strap.
My other half as a Cannon EOS 300D (I think) and I would like to get him one for it as a 1st anniversery present. In your vast knowledge can anyone recomend something comfortable yet safe?
The main ones I am seeing advertized are 'OP/TECH ’GOTCHA’ Wrist Straps ', which looks like a surfboard leash, and the 'GRIP STRAP', which seems to screw into the tripod mount and be worn like a glove? (http://www.optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=66)
PLEASE HELP! What do you use?

I use the "Domke SLR Action Strap" version of these because it can be used simultaneously with the neck strap. Very useful for heavy PJ (photo journalist f/2.8 heavy) lenses. All the NYC stores sell it.

Thanks Rabin,
I'll look it up. Not to sound like a lumpkin but, by NYC do you mean New York?
(I'm in London, can anyone recomend a good camera shop in the west end?)

Ali. There are many different brands of these all over the planet. As mentioned, I use Domke Zing SLR Sport Strap. Here is GB offices and they should know a dealer:
Tiffen Europe Ltd., Enterprise House, Weston Business Park, Weston on the Green, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX6 8SY, United Kingdom, Tel: +44 1869 343835
E-mail: support@tiffen.com
But, there are also many other brands. For example, the Markins guy from Korea makes a beautiful leather one but it only works if you have the his base plate (my wish list):

Do a web search for other brands. Hope that helps! Jack

I do something different to protect from dropping my camera: I have it always attached, via a cord and clip, to the soft case (except when I have it on a tripod). When I intend to take a picture, I hang the soft case around my neck and right shoulder (comfortable for long periods), and when I remove the camera from the case and use the viewfinder, the soft case is dangling a few inches under it. This may look a bit strange when taking a handheld picture but I'm always secure in the knowledge the camera can't fall far below about waist level and I don't have to take the time to insert my wrist into a wrist strap which I've never regarded as very secure anyway.
