I just picked up a 430EX II, my first speedlite, and now I'm kicking myself for not getting one earlier. I really love this flash. I'm still messing with flash and RTFM, but was able to get some nice results with my first few shots. In these shots the flash is bounced off the ceiling (~75 degrees) and the images here are straight from the camera (no PP):

I love the gray one a bunch. May need to invest in one of those too! LOL

Yeah, he's a big lazy cat, gets bigger despite how strict I am about food portions. I think he has a cat food stash somewhere.

Nice cats! I just picked one up and it is definitely a must have. I'm still learning how to use it though...

Looking good, nice job!
I got my 430 EX for Christmas - still learning too, but loving it.
Would love to see some more you take! :)

You asked for it. All I've had time to take shots of with the flash are cats:

Thanks for sharing.
BTW, a reflector/diffuser will improve the light by directing some of it toward the cat, opening up the shadows. It would be neat to fill in some below the head of your beautiful gray cat.
I like the Joe Demb (DFD Pro) model. It does a great job, is versatile and won't break the bank...

That looks good, I may have to pick it up. I thought about getting a Sto-Fen two-way unit, will that work well enough or is the DFD Pro with it's front but I'll consider this too.
