I prefer to see a transition in to and out of focus, rather than seeing the only focused area right along an edge of a photo. As is, the eye is trapped at the very bottom seeking details, and the footwear doesn't provide a lot because it's black with relatively little shadow detail and the DOF doesn't even encompass it completely. So, am just suggesting moving the shoes forward another 30 cm or so (assuming the bottom edge is kept where it is), and focusing around them more carefully. Separately, there's a hint of a person just on the bright sand at right... needs to be cropped. I also find that bright sand a touch too bright, but my monitor's brighter than average. I think some extra compositional element may have lifted the picture... a bird, someone running barefoot away from the sandals, my mind continues but I'll stop my fingers there. Cheers, Tony

As Tony said the shot just needs more to it that what is there. Maybe taking it again but doing a landscape crop to capture more of the water and maybe so birds on the beach. I really don't like the focus on this shot it, just because the actual subject doesn't have any detail visible.
