I bounced flash from ceiling,I normally use a diffuser but remove it for bounce shots.I also used a small amount of 'shadows/highlight' in PS.

I was pretty much thinking the same thing.
It must be the eyes. Go back and check them again...wow.

It doesn't "wow" me at all. IMO it is not a flattering portrait.

Not a very photogenic face. Join the club, there's lots of us! We're usually great at other stuff, completely independent of our facial DNA.

Good enough technically, but... nah.

I can't get over all the WOWs. Shades of American Idol.

overall composition is a bit 'standard' for my likings, but seriously, the eyes are eyes you could get lost in.
