I took these last year using my A70. I can hardly wait for this year with my 20D.
The Corkscrew is the signature turn at Laguna Seca. These photos are taken looking toward the top of the turn. As you can see there is a serious left-right transition at the beginning of a five floor drop down an open elevator shaft ending in the Rainey Corner, a left hander not for the meek. YeeHaa.
Last year was AMA and World Super Bikes. This july it will be AMA Super Bikes and MotoGP.

Good luck getting these shots this year. They've put up "catch fences" all through the corkscrew. There are only a few photog "cutouts" for us to shoot rhough. I hope they're gone for Moto GP, but I doubt it...

I can't look at a picture of Laguna Seca's Corkscrew without thinking of Alex Zanardi passing Bryan Herta in the dirt, very much like the guy in your picture #2.
Very nice photos.

Tom, I remember that. I deafened everyone around me by screaming. It was so awesome. That whole corner complex is wild!

Cool cool, I thought that was one of the better bike forums as there were a decent amount of track ridders on there. I feel like I've seen your pic before, it wasn' in a mag was it?

I can't wait for the Moto GP Laguna round this year. A friend of mine and myself bought reserved camping and tickets...so I'll literally be camped out at the track. I can't wait to photograph there but I'm a bit concerned as I've never been to Laguna Seca before. Anybody have any advice as far as a good place to shoot from. I can't stand shooting from the stands...

i have had shots in several magazines, robb report, motorcyclist, sport rider, road racing world, and some others...so you probably have seen my shots somewhere.

This year I believe that there will be near twice the attendance over last year so there will be huge crowds. Dito mentioned new "catch fences" which may make photography more difficult. The promoters keep putting up more stands which is both good and bad. It seems that there are more restrictions as to where you can park your butt to watch the race.
I will most likely make the trek up to the Corkscrew. Photography for the masses will probably be best at paractice on Friday and support races Saturday. Sunday will probably be a mad house.
Ride Safe.

You have nothing to be jealous about. I adore the tracks and the pictures of them from the U.K. Visually they run from nice to gorgeous and their tradition is awesome.

Some of them are great for spectators and some of them are abysmal... we're going up to Mallory this weekend, courtesy of the Vivaldi BSB team, it's my first time there, but it's supposed to be a good spectator circuit :D So hopefully i'll bring you some pictures back if it dries up at any point... it's raining here already :(

Isn't it always raining there, Kind of like our northwestern states? Of course that is why it is so green unlike the desert look we get here in central California.
