A quick question, I have been lurking around this forum for a while and have been impressed with the images that have been posted. Anyway. I would like to try myself some macro photography but not sure if I want to go into a large investment at this time. By accident I found a Canon Macro Lense FD 100mm 1:4 S.C that is reasonably priced, would this lens work with a canon xsi camera?

I think that lens only goes to 0.5 :1 and you would require an adapter to get it to fit on the camera although one without optics would be OK as you would probably not need infinity focus.
Not sure what other lenses you have but as an introduction to macro you may be better off getting a Kenko extension tube set and using it with your other lenses.

Thank you for your reply I do have the kit lens 18-55mm and the 75-300 and an older 35-70 mm macro with no IS. The 18 55mm appears to do the better close up shots. I do have a reversing lens adaptor that does work quite well given the time to set up right. I have considered the Kenko tubes and have seen them a a reasonable price on Ebay. I can save about $75 buying off ebay than locally. That puts them in the same price range as the second hand lens I was considering, maybe that's the way for me to go and then take it from there, if my interest continues to grow.
