I would like opinions or explanations on whether the D60 or the D100 is a better camera, and why. Thanx!

for me it is the D60.
why?
1. less noise.
2. sharper images.
3. user upgradeable firmware.
4. Canon lens system (better IMO)

oops, i forgot one of my best reasons for going with the D60.
the D60 uses CMOS sensor technology which is proving itself to be free of noise and hot pixels.
the CMOS sensor is also less prone to attract dust as the CCD sensor used in the D100.

I found the D60 (Both of them) soft. Even after tweeking the sharpness which is only one position up...
both my D60s were soft though the viewfinder looked as sharp as a pin...I am holding out till PMA... but looking at all 5 cameras D60...D100..S2..Sigma and Contax the best all rounder is the S2 more pro photographers are using the S1 & 2 than the D60 & D100.

Fuji have a good understanding of the digital market and all with no exeption of their lesser digital cameras produce great pictures so why should they cock it up with the S2... anyway buy a compact flash card and try before you buy.

Another thing to understand this is a Canon forum sometimes Canonites can't see further than their own nose and will defend a Canon to the bitter end...I am a Canon man but firstly I am a professional and my professionalism will not allow me to be blinkered by the word "Canon" as being the be all and end all.

Sorry Mr EYE,

I "had" 2 D60s both soft as putty and ain't it funny that out of all the Digital SLRs the shop had 2 D60s and a 2 month waiting list for the S2

as for lenses, well, we won't go into what you "the professional" haven't a clue as to what you speak.

As I warned you all the Canonites would defend not only the D60 but the Glass as well.

Hawkeye look further than the end of your nose.

To be fair and accurate the S2 is indeed a big choice for the professional portrature photographers. The S1 and S2 have been favorites for that "particular" genre. As for general shooting in other areas it has NOT been the camera of choice, but then the D100 hasn't really either. Technically neither the D100 nor the D60 were designed or intended for the "professional" market. Now that's just from the marketing standpoint. There are of course a lot of pro's using them in the field, but not in situations that require toughness and weather resistance to be sure. The term "Prosumer" was kind of born from that application. It's not all sematics but rather a lot more of design intention as well. Just as you can't nor won't be able to compare ANY cameras to the robustness of the Canon 1 Series and Nikon D1 and D1x series cameras. It's quite intentional on the manufacturers part........
