What a massive plane. I'm looking forward to my upcoming flight from Singapore to Paris on the A380.

Nice shots. First time I've ever seen the airliners name on the bottom of the plane.

Thanks mate!

I say that everytime I see it flying out of Sydney. Nothing that big should ever be able to get off the ground, let alone fly 1/2 around the world.

Seen a C17 taking off? That looks like it's going to fall out the sky.

Indeed. I saw those quite often when living in the States. They hardly look like they're moving.

You'll have to write of it. I'm very interested.
For those who might not know how large the A380 is, imagine a Boeing 747. Then imagine a couple Boeing 737s. Put the Boeings together and you have the A380. The B747-400 can launch at 800,000 lb. The A380 takes off at 1,300,000 lb. It's a veritable monster. I'd love to see one in person.

That thing must have a slow approach speed. By the time it passed over you, it looked like the weather cleared up... either that or it's vortecies are so large that it cleared out the weather.
Nice shots. over a million pounds at takeoff, is just crazy.

I will endeavour to do so - though it's not until November. Singapore Airlines only starts using the A380 on it's Paris leg in June.
Living in Sydney, I've seen the A380 on a number of occasions - both the Singapore Airlines and Emirates varieties. It's funny, until you see it next to the other planes, it just looks like an overgrown Boeing 767. Then it pulls up next to another plane and you go,"Oh...damn. That's big."

Many thanks for the comments.
We get three a day in to heathrow if im correct.
To me the B747 looks bigger. The A380 has a huge wingspan though. Very quiet too.

The 747 has always looked bigger to me too - I suppose because of the upper cabin bump. With the A380, it just looks overgrown, until you see it next to a 747. Then it's just massive.

I didn't realise they were flying to SFO yet? Last I heard it was only LAX.

Love the Aircraft photos and see a 380 is a plus.

Believe it or not (rummer on the net) It was put there to advertise, because they new many photos of the AC would be taken, just like the photos here. Just think of the extra weight in paint to make that logo.

Well, good advertising space, and seems to be doing the job.
I wonder how much that extra paint weighs....

I'm sure it isn't that much, but weight is weight (I was kinda of being funny)... If I remember correctly, to paint a 747 nose to tail is around 1,200lbs in paint. So I could only give a very bad guess on the weight that logo adds. But I am pretty sure that 380 doesn't notice it.

Wow, 1200lbs? That's pretty amazing. Granted, the logo won't weight nearly that much - but still.
