I've always wondered where do people get their "other" smilies from. Anybody know

There are several web sites with smilies available for download. Just do a search on Google. Then, put them in your own web space (assuming you have that available), and link to them like you would a picture.

No, you can't link to them if they're on your PC. They have to be online somewhere, either your own web server or a photo sharing site that allows linking, like PBase. You could attach them to a message, but they won't display in-line with the text like this: http://www.ldphotography.net/Smilies/costumed-smiley-024.gif. Instead, they'll display below the text like this:

I;m not saying that any smilies will be added either way.. (not my venue)

.... but I would suggest that if you are going to ask for a specific smily to be added,. one should at the very least,. post it, or a link to it,. so that should the admin decide to add it.. he at least has it available to add... :confused: :rolleyes: :)

Be careful of some of the sites offering a "Smiley program" They're major spyware & will slow down your computer. Smilies are just GIF files (most of them) & can be inserted like any other pic.

Thanks CDS. Found many sites with smilies to download, however & for some reason I associate these sites with spyware, spam and such. Does anybody know a safe site to download from.

How do you steal them Frank. I go to a sporting forum and they have very funny smilies, I'd like to get some of those. Of course I'll ask for permission first.

Right-click on them & "Save Image as". I suspect that smilies are pretty much in the public domain. Still, they are images.
