Nice pics. I didn't have my macro lens when I went to Monterrey, but this is a good idea.

You are pretty good, but those are very Basic fish. Petko stuff :) I actually just got them that night at Petko to do some test shooting in a photo tank. I keep a lot of fish (9 aquariums at home) but more exotic, bigger stuff, fresh and saltwater.
The tank is 8 inches wide, 6 inches tall and 4 inches front to back. All glass. Flash from the top looking down at a slight angle. A reg. focus light to light up the subjects, but most of the lighting is from flash.

Wow they are great pics. Love your work, you manage to overcome any distortion caused by the glass of the tank.
Khiem.

Thanks, Khiem. Really clean glass, brand new photo tank, made for that purpose only. Tiny environment, so the glass is really thin. The tank is only 8"x6"x4". No filters or anything else in the tank that would get in the way, the fish are not fed in it, so the water is perfectly clear and clean. The single flash lights it up really well.

Ahhh, that's brilliant, love hearing about these little tricks of the trade.

I know they are basic, I have/had a ton of aquariums also. I used to breed Tropheus Duboisi... Thats a really nice fish. When they are juvenile they are black with blue spots and as they mature they turn all black with a white band and a bright blue head. Sad to say I only have a 55gal setup right now. I have a 150gal built into the island in my kitchen with nothing in it. (it's covered by a ceramic tile cover now so you can't see it.) and a 180gal in the basement. I also have a 110gal Bow front tank (used to be my salt tank) that will be set up in the studio waiting room when its done. All 3 (150, 180 & 110) were custom built tanks from a guy around here that used to build them. He has been retired for a few years. He used to have a tank, I dont know how many gal. But, it was about 6 - 8 foot in diameter and about 2 foot or so tall and was shaped like a doughnut. You could go under the stand and stand in the center of the tank (the hole of the doughnut :) ) and have a 360 degree view....... AWESOME
