I want to pic of an Azden mic, and the reviews seem good. I can't find any info on what adapter if any is required for the Adzen to fit on Canon's mini-hot shoe? Anybody? Thanks

I have that mic and it fits right on the hot shoe on my 5DMKII. No adapter needed. Great mic by the way.

Glad to hear it's a good mic. I found out about it by browsing the 5DII threads. I just wonder how it will work since the hotshoe on my HF10 is "mini" and not fullsize like hotshoes on the Canon DSLRs.

Sorry, I was thinking regular hot shoe. In that case I really don't know for sure. Good luck!

All depends which Canon camcorder you have. My son has this mic and it fits on the Canon HV30 shoe although the mic has no "hot" connections. The 3.5mm jack fits the Canon external mic jack and the sound is not bad.

If you have one of the HF series, the mini hot shoe will not take standard shoe without an adapter and I have no idea where to get one unless one is listed in the B&H acessories listing for that mic.

My suggestion: For on camera use get an "L" shaped flash bracket with a standard shoe mount and use that. Side benefit is it will reduce handling noise. Also the accessories that come with that mic should include a clamp and shoe with a 1/4 x 20 thread in the bottom so it will fit on a tripod or light stand with a 1/4 x 20 thread adapter or small ball head with that thread on top.

Your sound gets much better when you place the mic closer to your "talent" than the camcorder (just be sure it's out of sight"). To do this I use a 16 foot shielded stereo extention cable from Radio Shack. I haven't had a problem with hum yet. Had I checked that mic out I might not have spent $250 on a Rode StereoVideoMic. That Azden my son has is a very good mic.

It won't fit the HG21 without an adaptor..........
