Star trail attempt last night 40D and 18-55mm kit lens. took approx. 40 exposures with Startrails
Settings:
ISO: 1600
F/14
18mm
Exp: 30 sec
PhatheadWRX

did you shoot it through a screen? there is a weird pattern across the shot?
I'm newer to star trails too, but I use low ISO with a larger aperture (ISO 200, f/4)
it also looks like you have a slight gap in your trails.

Don't quite know where those two gaps came from on each trail, I assumed the startrails program had something to do with it. I'll give your settings a try next time the sky is clear enough.

I would concur with what Phathead says, open the aperture and lower the ISO. If you're stacking images then you can experiment with certain length exposures until you get a single image you like, then stick with that setting and shoot away.
I personally like more sky-glow than you got, and think you could open things up quite a lot more. :)
