One of the past assignments we had to do in photog was to create an album cover. We had to go out and shoot whatever we wanted then work on them in Photoshop and use filters and what not. It was pretty neat. Here is mine. Front and back. I was too lazy to come up with a band name so I just used Senses Fail but the back cover I created all the song names and what not and if you look close enough you can see a hidden message within the song titles. Haha. Enjoy. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Nice job. I bit gory, but I could see an album cover looking like that.

I think it would look if the colors were desaturated somewhat.

Not bad, not bad, but one thing I would change, the album title sticks out too much, it meeds to be integrated into the feel of the image more, it just looks pasted on top. Maybe if the colours were less bold and the edges less sharp, and even better if you tried to make it look like it was written on the piano by making it follow the curves. The senses fail bit works better for me because the distorted perspective makes it look like it's a sticker on the piano, but it could do with the edges matching the sharpness of the photo.

Ditto on the title, needs to be more "carved" into the wood.
IMHO, the pianist does not "looks" dead in the front cover, he seems more asleep after a long drinking night :) Not a problem of the pic, but of his facial expression. In the back cover, perhaps, he looks much more "dead" even if you can see the tension of the muscles in the neck/chin area, its a little unnatural (for a dead body, of course    ).
The blood is a little too obviously paint or tomato sauce. Its excellent on the hand in the cover and too "painty" on the back. Too "painty" on the face on both.
No exagerate citicism intended, of course, just personal opinion and a tentative to help.

I agree. The title color is too bright compared to the rest of the photo...

if you ever want to get into this sort of thing more indeapth, you might want to try Adobe Illustrator. I blows Photosop out of the water for adding Illustrations and text, it is a vector program so you can enlarge things to any size without pixelation.

Open eyes, more realistic blood (or none at all) more somber lighting, better font and placement of text, actual sheet music on the piano with a splattering of blood instead of smearing, etc. Id say reshoot. Conceptually it could be done.
