Im new to the RAW format but I would prefer it for certain shots.

Where can I get a good basic guide to using RAW (especially on a mac - if that even applies.)

Besides the brightness and contrast I'm not sure what, how and why to do things.

Thanks

This book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/032127878X/qid=1107482395/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-5112275-8136748?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) has everything you need to know, including background, workflow, and lots of very useful information. You can find some guides around on the net, probably, but they won't be in anywhere near as much depth as that book.

I bought this book on Tim's advice from another thread and I believe it has helped me to get started in this 'new' format, well at least new to me. With the release of PSCS2 next week there will be (I hope) a new book in the making perhaps. This one was written around PS 7 if I am not mistaken. Now much different all in all I guess.

The book I have is called "Camera RAW with Adobe Photoshop CS", i'm pretty sure mine's not for PS7 ;) I won't bother to get the newer book, now I understand the theory I can most likely work the rest out for myself.
