I just bought a 20D and I'm having problems downloading the files from the camera to my computer. When I hook up my camera and go to download, a window pops up and tells me the camera is busy and I should turn off the LED.
The problem is the LED is not on. I can download from a card reader, but I can't download RAW files that way. As far as I know I installed all the softwear properly. Any Ideas?

You could try going into the menu on the PC and turning the camera onto P2P mode (or something like that anyway). Otherwise just use the card reader - i've never taken photos off my camera using the cable, I don't need to.

I much prefer the card reader. I hate having my camera sitting on my desk and it also saves the batteries.

I don't think you want to use Peer-Peer mode except for direct printing. Try normal for the computer connection.
However, you really want to be using a card reader in the long run.

There are odd assumptions here.
If files exist on the memory card, it doesn't matter whether they are RAW or JPEG or anything else, they will all transfer from the card reader into the computer the same way.
Store them in some directory on the hard disk, then let your RAW converter or viewer program have its way with them all in that directory.

I just saw someone say that the other day, if my memory is correct, it was worth a go. I never tried getting pics with the cable, always used a reader.
Actually I did try using the software from the 300D once, when I first got the 20D. It downloaded the JPGs, but didn't download the CR2s - obviously the software was too old to know that CR2 is the new raw format. I wiped the card afterwards and had to use recovery software to get the deleted CR2 files back. The software that came with the 20D would work, but I switched to using a card reader and DIM all the time after that.
