Bay to Breakers..What lens?

Newbie here looking to take photos during the Bay Breakers this coming Sunday. I have the XSI with the 18-55 IS kit lens which for sure I'll bring along. But I'm thinking about renting another lens for this event. I was thinking maybe the 24-105mm f/4L IS. Any other suggestions?

I think wider lens like 10-22 will be more useful than longer end.

Loyalty, just a friendly suggestion... since the members of this forum are not just nationwide but worldwide, it would be useful to give at least a brief idea of what the "Bay Breakers" are. Yeah we could search and find out, but most of us won't bother.
