I just read in Popular Photography magazine that Sigma is coming out with a 10-20 lens, that will work with digital formats. It is actually made for digital formats.
I am highly interested in seeing the performance of this lens v.s. the Canon 10-22. I wouls also like to see price wise what this lens would go for.
your thoughts?
Some links as I find them ....

I like my Sigma 20mm F1.8 DG. @F4.0 - F5.6 the 10-20mm won't be a very fast lense.

This is not news anymore - Sigma announced 3 interesting new lenses at PMA: 18-200, 10-22 and 30/1.4 as well as upgrades of many telephotos.
However, they still have not announced weights or prices for the 10-20 or 30.
The 30 will be the first DC prime, I believe and if it is as good optically as the Canon 50/1.4, which it resembles a bit, should be a very big hit.
Judging from the quality of the 12-24, which is not a DC lens, expectations for the 10-20 are also quite high

Sorry, but this is news to me...
I never knew about this, and found it interesting..
I figure others would also.
Happy shooting

I wonder how bad the Vignette would be if the 10-20m were mounted on a 1D with a 1.3X crop?

Or if the mount will be EF-S for Canon (probably not, but you never know).

Slightly OT but:
I've been waiting for test results of that 30 1.4 for months now ??? (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=33#)

Yeah,. I guess the 12-24mm would make more sense since I have a 1.3X camera..
I don't think Sigma puts EF-S mounts on them,.. if they did they would not be able to sell to the D30, D60, 10D market.

This one is news to me, too ... good news. It'll be interesting to see how it's priced.
No, it won't be particularly fast, but for my purposes (outdoor landscapes) I would be using it stopped down most of the time anyway.

I'm interested to see how it compares to the canon 10-22 in performance and price
It's not a dead cert that they'll undercut canon alot on price.
It's interesting to see a digital '50mm' prime.I wouldn't touch one (booooooooring) but there are those that love to use a standard focal length and get great results

I understand that it will be an EF mount, not an EF-S mount, but that it will only be useful with APS sized sensors. This lens provides a wide angle solution for cameras like the D30, D60 and 10D. I understand that it will have HSM autofocus with full time manual override, which is important for those of us who assigng AF to the * button so we can manually touch up focus.

exactly, with it having the HSM, and Full time Manual is a plus to me. If this lens manages to cost less than, and perform close to the Canon 10-22 I will be more than happy to take the loss in 2mm on the long end if I can save a couple hundred.
I am not worried about resale value.

Sweet! I love my sigma 70-300. This would be a nice addition to my bag.

You know.. it's kind of pissing me off that every tom dick and harry Lens manufacturer is rolling out one of these,. and they are ALL making them slow zooms?
C'mon guys,. if we really NEED super wide,. then we freaken NEED super wide,. not superwide and kinds sorta wide in a zoom?
What I'm saying is I would really actually "buy" one of these super wides if and when they make a decent Prime!!!! Think about how much better the optics could be! A lens this wide and a zoom HAS to be a significant compromise.
10mm Prime.. where are you???
//rant off.. enjoy your zooms! :) :) :)

You read my mind... because I was thinking pretty much the same thing.
I know that Tokina has the 17mm prime, but I would still crave for a wider lens.
A 10mm prime would sufice indeed it would.
hmm maybe a 10mm f2.8 or f3.5
A f3.5 would be good for me, but a f2.8 would give me a hard on.
lol
