Canon should have made an EF 24-105 f2.8L I.S. lens instead of a 24-70 II. JMHO

Nah, I don't believe it because there is no cycle when comes how often we see lens updates. Just because a lens has been out for 5 to 6 years, it does not mean we are expecting a newer model.

How about a 35 1.2L ?:D That's what I'd like...super tele's are overrated. Be unique and try getting a kickass wildlife photo with an ultrawide! Ever see that before?
