This little girl was 6 days old today, and she was a fighter! She didn't want to sleep in anything except the basket and fur, so that's where most her shots took place.
Let me know what you think!

these are great, beautiful baby.
#3 right side by the front foot looks a little blurry or something, not sure what it is, and #7 might be a tad underexposed (left side of face maybe?) but seriously these are great!!

Thanks so much for all the great feedback!!
is this all studio? or window lighting too? Love the shots.
Thanks! I do all sessions on location, this is window lighting behind camera right, and flash bounced for fill :)
these are great, beautiful baby.

Thanks - yes on #3 her feet are blurry, I pretty much always shoot wide open, and her feet were closer to my camera than her face. on #7 is a little too dark for my taste as well, the way she was laying wasn't getting enough fill flash. I'm gonna brighten it a tad in PP
these are fantaaaaaastic!!! did you use flash at all? how did you get her to sleep all the time??:)
I do use flash to fill in my shadows, as for the sleeping, I have many tricks up my sleeve ;) Patience, heat, comfort, and full belly!
Thanks again everyone!

I love these... sleeping newborns are the best. Never really understand when the parents want them awake and buggy eyed. :) Forgive me for this newbie question but, how did you change the background to have a variety of colors? Also, was the flash off camera and what did you have it bouncing off of?

Fantastic job, they are wonderful!! Quick question as for the adorable hats, did you buy or make them- they are so good in these portraits

looks like you are just barely missing the focus point on these. It's most noticeable in the #1 & #4, the hat is much sharper than the face

I don't use seamless paper, I use background panels, they are 40x60 inches, perfect for newborns! I bounce my flash around a lot, usually off the ceiling, or a wall to the left or right.

I buy them - I wish I could make them though!

I'm hitting it right on the eye, if you look closer you can tell because the very front of the hat is blurred more than a tad back in, that's because the front of the hat is closer to my camera, and the eyes are even with the sharp part of the hat ... does that make sense??

really excellent series!! I love all the colour in the photos and the props doesn't make it look too cluttered like they can be some times! the hat is so gorgeous.
you mentioned that you used background boards. What kind of store did you buy these from? -- not shop name because im in australia and we might not have your shop here :P
also what camera and lense/s did you use?
thanks for sharing!:)
