hi,

i just got a 350d and was using it when an err 2 appeared. i tried taking out the cf card and inserting it back again and it worked the first time. however, the error occurred again & now it say err cf.

any idea how to solve this problem? i have not tried reformatting the cf card as i have pictures in the card and would like to save them.

btw, i'm using the Lexar 1 GB Professional 80x CF.

thanks!

As soon as a CF card acts this way, you must remove it from the camera. Do image file recovery on the card using the right software. Then put it into your card reader and let the computer do a complete format on it. Then put it back into the camera and let the camera do a quick format on it.

If the whole symptom repeats, then chuck the card into a trash can and move on.

Instructions for doing what?

1. As soon as a CF card acts this way, you must remove it from the camera.

2. Do image file recovery on the card using the right software. There are a number of image recovery programs on the market, and some are free. Some are provided free along with a particular CF card brand. I have one called PC Inspector File Recovery.

3. Then put it into your card reader and let the computer do a complete format on it. Exactly how that is done depends on the computer and OS.

4. Then put it back into the camera and let the camera do a quick format on it. Format is one of the camera's menu items.

5. If the whole symptom repeats, then chuck the card into a trash can and move on. I prefer the right-handed flip.

If this happens more than once using a particular CF card, then it is most likely a problem with the CF card. Replace that. If it is under warranty, then get another one. I had a Viking 1GB go bad on me when using it in my 350D and got a new one from them.
