So this is from a family shoot I did last night and this is the only shot of the youngest that came out, and I played with it in pse, this is the result and I am curious becasue i like the desaturated effect, but when i print will it look bad? also is the composition ok even though its almost centered, and is the all black background distracting? as i look at it on here, the vignetted on his arm isnt all that flattering so I will remove that, but otherwise what do you think?

thanks

A portrait looks better with a "portrait" orientation. There is too much dead space and with the subject centered, the composition does not work well. As far as printing is concerned, the only way to know how it will look when printed is to print it and then look at it. If you are using Photoshop, I recommend that color management be handled by Photoshop rather than the printer and also make certain that you select the correct printer profile for the paper being used. Otherwise, the colors in the printed image may not look at all like the image on your monitor.

Is your monitor calibrated? This photo, and 95% of the photos in the link you gave, are very under exposed (just look at their histograms). You do this for hire and you're providing such under exposed dark photos/prints to clients?

Caucasian skin tones should be rather high (to the right) on the histogram, yet this photo's histogram's light only reaches the halfway point of light brightness.

And the photo is so dark, his eyes are too dark to see that they are even green.
