After receiving my new equipment from B&H (I sold all of my previous equipment back in September) and feeling happy to be back in the photo game I decided to take a short drive to watch and shoot the Brea "Old Course" Criterium in Brea, Ca on May 10th. The race took place in a business/industrial park (not the best setting) so I worked with the surroundings the best I could. C&C welcome. beautiful shot Rich. What I wouldn't do to have an off camera flash gun just out of the frame in the grass on the left there.

Thanks, Scott. I agree, an off camera flash would have been great addition...it will definitely be my next purchase.

Would you have mounted it on a very small tri-pod? What's the best method for using off camera gear like that?

from what I can see there, I would have used a regular tripod dropped down low then clamp the flash right to it. You'd want to below the riders obviously. Dont get me wrong, this is a great shot, the flash would be even better.

Was going to go down to shoot he Pro-1 race but being mothers day and all. I use a small tripod for back backing like this for off camera low shots. http://www.amazon.com/Pedco-UltraPod-Mini-Lightweight-Camera/dp/B000FBT514/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242256776&sr=8-2
