Hi Everyone,I've searched high and low for this, but couldn't seem to find the answer.I'm using a 40D and 580EXii.I recently picked up a CST and CSRB. When plugging in the cord into the 580exii, the PC connection seems very loose and I'm thinking this is the cause of some misfires. I keep having to make adjustments, pull out, plug back to get it to work. Frustrating...
My questions are:
1) How snug is the PC sync portion supposed to fit into the 580exii?
2) If it is typically loose, is there an alternative? (I remember hearing "screw lock" but not sure if it would work in this scenario. If it does, can someone send me a link?
3) Someone suggested http://flashzebra.com/products/0138/index.shtml (and that would be my last option) would that work with my set-up?Thanks in advance!

The PC connector is a very poorly designed connector.
I'd go with the shoe you linked to. I picked up two of em and that's how I use my Cybersyncs. They work flawlessly.

ive had this problem before and called pcb to send me the older sync cables that they had before which had thicker wire and fits snuggly into my 580ex2 sync port. the newer ones they have actually does fine in non-canon flashes.
or you can plug it with the base of the plug facing up on towards the head of the flash. this way the rubber thingy on the side of the 590ex2 tightens the connection a bit.
and yes, this is the culprit that causes the misfires.
EDIT: this is the one you should get http://flashzebra.com/screwlock_pc_fivemeter/0035.shtml although with a shorter cable.

If you are using the PC cord that came with the Cybersync I think that might be your problem. Not that the cord is poor quality but it is not a screw locking cord if I remember correctly so it can easily wiggle loose. I use the FlashZebra cord below with my 580 EX II and have never had an issue. I'm not a huge fan of PC connectors, screw type or not, but I have had no issues using the below.

Thanks for everybody's quick response!
Great, even more choices to make!
Can someone tell me the difference between these 2 solutions? They seem to be almost identical and one is 50% more expensive

theyre both basically the same. the first just has better hot shoe assembly. it looks more like the hot shoe of an canon OC3
