Hi All,
At the weekend I had my first official family portrait shoot in my studio. Mum and Dad were not going to be in the shoot, waiting a bit before doing the whole family. However, as the youngest lad really didn't like the strobes, they did get involved in trying to distract him. Seemed to have worked. :)
Shot on 10D + 28-135IS. Three Elinchrom strobes, two of them lighting the backdrop and one to the left of camera, and camera height. Large reflector to right to push some light back in. Metered only once and then just shot. Although this worked for the sitting shots, it went to pot once they started running about, often back into the light being cast by the background strobes (2 stops over exposure). I just went with the flow and recovered many shots in RSE.
Mum wanted the shoot to be in the "lifestyle" style, so high key and black and white it was (although originals are colour) and very informal. At one point, soft toys were whistling past my ears as a game of soft toy murder ball ensued (yes, I feared for my lights).
Anyway, parents are happy, they are now deciding which ones to have printed.
Cheers
Ian
