I took this pic in Costa Rica, do you know why they have no feathers on their heads?

Nobody guessed so I'll give the answer: They doen't have feathers on their heads so the carrion they feed on doesn't stick to them.

They have small bald heads because they live to sink their heads into the body cavity of a carcus. It'd be pretty measy, and harder for them to do that if they had feathers on their head. Vulchures are amazing also because they flie in networks of sorts covering 2000 square miles a day each. When ever one dives to the ground, it gives other vultures in the area a signal of sort, which then is passed onto other vultures by their diving as well. It's like, an invisible net of vultures sort of. Very incredible. That's how they can get to a carcus so quickly in large numbers.
