Nice shots, Dave. We can smell the bad breath on the grizz.

I was about 40 feet horizontally and 30 feet vertically from the 'boy' ... I was just using my 20D with a 100-400 IS. There are two viewing points for the bears and I was on the upper deck.

Northwest Trek is part of the Tacoma/Pierce Country Metro Parks system. The land for the 'zoo' was donated by a Doctor who still lives on a island in the center of the free-roaming area. They focus on animals native to the Pacific Northwest, and seem to do a great job with the creation of their exhibits.

Right now I spend two days a week observing the wolves for exhibition of dominant behavior. From May 16th through the 23rd I'll be in Yellowstone, trying to obtain similiar data from a wild pack. Just about the time the wolf pups should be coming out of their dens ... oh, and the Momma Grizz's with their babies should be out too!
