There's this 20 foot tall tree of pussy willows & the hummmm of all the bees was loud, so I thought, "This will be easy! I'll just have to wait a few minutes to get a nice shot." One bee landed on the far side, peeked over the top, then dropped like a stone to get airspeed! That was enough to suck me in enough to wait, & wait, & wait... What I got was a sunburn on the top of my head before this guy came over. LOL!
I did get a few other 'opportunity shots' in other directions, but this was close to what I was going for.

Nice...I love the pussy willows. Bees can be so unpredictable!!!

I have a cactus in my backyard that is budding. I can't wait for it to burst open so I can photograph it.

and ours are long gone

that's beautiful Thanks, ladies! My favorite of this year!

I have a cactus in my backyard that is budding. I can't wait for it to burst open so I can photograph it. Can't wait to see it! I once bought a tiny cactus plant 'cause it had a cute little flower growing on it. (About 1/8") When I got it home I discovered that the flower was made out of paper!

(it's been mentioned that word is not allowed as when someone put's the word in anywhere on the internet the forum may pop up and it will get a bad name ) I thought of making the title a play on words! Then my infrequent, slightly better judgement took over! :D

sunburn on the top of your head.
already ?
no hat ?
no hair?
no head(avatar) :D:D 2 hours standing in one spot with my finger on the shutter release! The light changed. For the first hour it changed for the better. Every once in a while, I'd see a bee to my right & I'd use the quick release on the tripod & take a quick shot of it. (I'll post them soon). Then it was back to my original stance... waiting... (I SO wanted to take a P break, too!)

how much background did you have to ps out of the picture? :D:D:D None! f/2.5 105mm Nikkor with a 1" extention tube at about f/11, 1/400 sec & ISO 400. The only big ps change was a tiny white spot on the stalk.

I'd like to say that "I AM SO GOOD!", but actually I'm just stubborn! :D;)

Man, that goes beyond stubborn. 2 hours?!?! Guess I should commend you, since most of the time I don't have the patience to spend anymore than 5 minutes on each shot. Great job though. I like it a lot. Keep up the good stubborn work!

Man, that goes beyond stubborn. Several GFs have told me that! :D:D But I "saw" that shot in my mind several times over the Winter & wasn't going to let it get away! ;)

Thanks guys.

Great shot. Now maybe if it would stop raining here I could get out and try my luck. The pussy WILLOWs are just starting to blossom...

Now maybe if it would stop raining here I could get out and try my luck. Your rain is our snow... for the last 30 hours! Luckily it's melting as it hits.
