It seems that something elemental is missing from the camera bag market. At least I can't find it. I wear my camera around my neck (or on my shoulder) during casual outings. I leave my big equipment bag at home. I don't wear a vest, so I need a place to put a lens or two unless I want to limit myself to the walk around lens on the camera. A perfect solution would be a waist belt pack designed to accommodate a couple of lenses. I know it works well, because I've been using a large fanny pack the same way. But, it isn't padded and divided the way a proper lens carrier should be. Is there such a lens pack on the market? If so, please tell me where to look for it.

Vegas George I know what you mean.

You may want to check out the Tamrac Modular Accessory System (http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm). I went with the Travel Zoom 5 to carry my Tamron 26-300mm mounted on my 20D. Though there was room in the side pockets for CF cards, battery, cleaning kit, filters, and more, I wanted to be able to carry another lens. I think I will go with the belt and lense case + maybe the water bottle carrier. I know the whole thing looks like a Batman utility belt but if it works it is okay. It should be fairly comfortable and leave my hands free. The whole thing should ride well in the tank bag on my bike.
Hope this helps.

You could also look at Lowepro Street and Field system. I use theDeluxe Belt, a 75AW case and a couple of lens cases for my kit, and it works well for me. :)

Good hunting

OK, I wound up ordering a Tamrac MAS system from Ace Photo. I think I'll feel like a telephone lineman the first couple of times I strap into it! But, at least it seems versatile. I even went for the tele zoom holster for it, although I don't know how often I'll use it.

my sigma lens came with a nice case that has a loop on the back of it for your belt.

I am pretty happy with the Mountainsmith Aurora fanny pack. Mine is the stnadard size...You might want one a bit smaller (there is acompact size available), but it works really well for me:

Here is the compact one: http://www.ebags.com/mountainsmith/aurora_compact_lumbar_pack/product_detail/index.cfm?modelID=19974

Translation:

For the Brits out there... In the States, we call it a fanny pack. You call it a bum bag. Same thing.

If you swing it around and wear it in front, it is called a kangaroo pouch.

If you wear it on one side or the other, it is a hip belt.
