I just noticed on my gallery that all apostrophes (single quotes) are being escaped with a backslash. I'm fairly sure this is a recent event.

Any thoughts or ideas?

After upgrading to 1.3RC you should do one database backup and restore using EE Backup that came with 1.3RC. That will remove those extra backslashes.
