All,

Here's my first try at shooting the Golden gate bridge at night. This shot was taken a few weeks ago about 8:30pm. Your CC's are most welcome.

When I took the shot I wanted to balance between the bridge being exposed as best as possible, and the car lights from not being "blown out". Your comments well taken. Thanks.

this is one of the best shots of this at night I have seen in quite some time... nice work!

I was at almost the exact same spot last night! Grabbed sandwiches on the way home and sat in the Marin hills for dinner. What a view! Didn't have camera, though. It may be a bit under exposed, but I think it balances the bridge lighting, car lights and city lights very well. I like it a lot and would print and hang if I took it.

Hi folks, thanks for the comments. I took another shot at this, and boosted up brightness up a bit in Lightroom. Thanks for looking.

On your second try the fog stands out more and looks really cool. The sky over downtown SF seems just a hair too bright. I wonder if just that area of the sky can be adjusted down? Either way, I like both of them a lot.

I don't mind the alleged darkness of the first one at all! I think that was very well composed and exposed! Excellent picture!

Cheers!

That would have been perfect for an HDR image. Not that it isn't a good image, just a little dark.

I actually prefer the original.

I like the first one. I think that this kind of night photography should have a sense of "darkness" to it. In the second photo, the downtown lights on the left, lights in the background on the right and the two red bridge lights all seem blown out to me and pull the eye away from the bridge. Go with your instinct and keep the night dark.

Very nice shot Chantu. Your viewpoint is simply spectacular. Thanks for sharing. How about a daytime comparison shot from the same spot. Nice work on the touchup too. Great stuff.
