My D60 uses a Canon BP 511 battery. Is there a chart somewhere that shows another brands equivalent battery. When I am traveling, I may need to buy a backup battery. (It's too late to order a Canon battery before my trip) . . . any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

The Canon BP-511 batteries of a few years ago were only 1100 mAH, or thereabouts. Other brands were marketed with 1200 and 1300 mAH. Canon's newer one is the BP-511A, which is 1390 mAH. I've seen other brands as high as 1500 mAH. They are all interchangeable, and you just get more shots out of the ones with higher capacity.

All the B511 equivalents that between me and my son have are all 1600mAH +. Most of them are 1800mAH though. Got em all for around 5 bucks each off ebay. Usually i never have to use another battery if im using the 1800, and i get over 300 shots -- sometimes if i do because of conditions, i will use my backup, but only need it for the last 50 shots of the shoot or so. And since I have 10 fully charged between me and my son, i never run out no matter what. Half of my set would prolly last me an entire vacation, and my vacations are looonng

Is there a chart somewhere that shows another brands equivalent battery. I don't worry about that. They will only last about 2 years ON THE SHELF! So I just picked up what I could at $12 apeice & will replace them when they die.
