CyberDyneSystems: Please "bore" us more often. :D :D
Cedar Waxwings are beautiful birds. I call them "masked bandits". I wish I could see more of them around my location. Your pictures (both threads) are incredible: sharp, colorful, beautiful! Thanks for sharing them.

Yup, you can bore us with your pictures anytime CDS. Those are lovely birds, but they build lousy nests. I had to babysit a family of them one year as the nest kept falling apart and the babies would fall out. I would put them back in several times a day and mother didn't seem to mind.

Boring? Not a chance - these are wonderful!

You are, however, causing us to sin (envy - to be specific  )

Exceptional captures, CDS! We're supposed to have a few in this area, but I don't think I've ever seen one.

Woah! Beautiful! I love it! And all the other ones too. Beautiful bird. What lens did you take those shots with?

I still think it is the little yellow and purple accent that makes it special.

Thanks All,.

This is the closest I've ever been to them,. and the most I'd ever seen.

It was apperently (and it makes sense) a migratory thing I witnessed on that day,. I went right back to the same spot yesterday,. (one day later) and found no trace of them.

I've heard similar stories,. in fact my Father who lives in Newfoundland had a flock drop into his back yard when there was several feet of snow on the gorund,. they all landed in one tree,. ate a bunch of red berries of it,. and left later that day.

Rbrt,
These were taken with the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS.. that was the first day I had it.. so given that the Waxwings were just passing through... I truly lucked out!

Based on your post in the first thread Bob,. I went back to those images and selected the flowery buds themselves,. and "boosted" the colors a bit.. and did the samne with the subsequent posts.

I think your spot on... :)

No, no.

Don't say that you boosted the colors a bit.

Say that you did some localized color balance editing to optimize the image for the web.

Seriously though, awesome shots. Just curious, but how close were you for these shots. 15-20 feet maybe?

CyberDyneSystems

These are definitely cropped.. but yes,. not much more than 20 feet,. probably closer.
