how you guys that take landscape shots get them to pop! many of the shots i see on here are perfect for lack of better works. the colors are amazing, perfect contrast etc. they just really pop. are you doing them HDR style ( multiple exposures blended together?) extensive PP?
example, how can i make this picture pop more? how do i take it from good to great?!? other than the contrast bump?

I'm no expert, but I think that the first thing to do would be to get the exposure right (based on what I am seeing on my crappy work monitor and the histogram, this photo seems underexposed).

Bryant,
It's underexposed and it needs contrast. Other than that, it looks fine to me.

I think the shot is fine, underexposed as previously mentioned. The reason I don't think this one is going to pop is because there isn't much color in the shot, and adding contrast will only enhance the difference between the sky and the clouds.
Just my thoughts.

Patience. ;) A lot of landscape photography is being in the right place at the right time. I had one particular fall color shot I was after. I returned to the same spot for 4 years before the conditions were exactly what I wanted. I spend a lot of time scouting out areas, planning shots, and then returning when conditions are right. I've also been known to pull over immediately because conditions are correct right now!

I don't think that it is as much underexposed as some color adjustments may be needed.
I pulled it into LR and did nothing but a WB correction, the Auto button, boosted clarity and vibrance, and got this.

Now I don't know what direction you want to go with it...Take it for what it's worth...'bout 2 cents.

is that where it was? i haven't used LR long enough to do any exploring, but it looks like you make the pic do things i didn't think it could!
