My son playing baseball. I saw this effect and thought I would give it a try.

very cool, I'd be interested in a quick tutorial on how to do this?

Its a good start. The first needs to loos e the 2nd image as it looks like he is hitting himself in the backside. Also would be much better if lastimage was not cut off
2nd is better except I would get rid of the 3rd image.

Here's how I’d do it in Photoshop:
Fix the camera so the angle doesn't change, like on a tripod. Don't change the zoom either.
In Photoshop, combine all the pictures into one. Open all the images and drag them one at a time into one. Say for example, you took six pictures. Drag two into one, then three into one, etc. When you drag them in, hold down the Shift key (that will bring each one in to the dead center).
Now just erase down through each layer so you can see the person on the layer below.
Did that make sense?

There is not a name for this effect. Just copy, paste, and erase.

I saw that technique last year and was intrigued. I gave it a try with great difficulty using CS2's photomerge. Best results would seem to be accomplished shooting very wide, or with extended bursts.

I think CS4 would easily accomplish the task, but it takes too much time and effort, just sitting in wait for a specific play to accomplish a single photo...that requires multiple focused shots in the span of 2-3 seconds.
