I am having trouble with my 20D focusing in back of my subjects. I haveseen on thissite talk of "calabrating" a lens to a camera. How is this done? Who does it? Is it covered under warranty? (My camera is only 3 weeks old). I am using the same lenses as I used on my other 4 Canons so I don't think it's the lens or me.
Thanks:cry:

Ihad the same problem when I bought my 20D, all my lenses did not focus properly. I sent the body to Canon Service in NJ and had it back in 1 week, I have had no problems since. On the paperwork they listed the work performed as "checked/calibrated focus with 50mm normal lens" Send it to Canon and let them take care of the problem.

First of all, keep in mind that it may be user error. If you think you are having a front- or back-focus problem, then it would be a good idea to do the ruler test to confirm it one way or the other.

If you confirm it, then you don't know whether the problem is in the lens calibration or in the camera body calibration, so swapping a lens should help figure that out. If you have only one lens, then maybe you can find some other Canon user with a lens. Some Canon dealers might help you on that.

At the end of all that, if you are convinced that you have a calibration problem, then you will need to contact one of the Canon repair centers and ask them about it. They will have you send in the whole rig. They will calibrate your camera body against their standard lens, and they will calibrate your lens against their standard body.
