I haven't used that one, but I had a similar product called an Image Tank.
I used it successfully for a few trips, but last spring I downloaded a full 1 gb CF card in Jasper. It appeared to go through the entire copying process so I reformatted the card for the next days shooting. When I got home, the downloads before and after that one were there, but that one was missing. I lost some good moose and black bear photos.
I replace the Image Tank with a Flashtrax because it has a screen so you look at the pictures to be certain they really downloaded. Other devices with review screens, such as the Epson P2000, are also good if they have enough memory for your purposes.

thanks scott,
the flashtrax does not read .cr2 files that the rebel saves in right?
just wondering how i could verify that things have transferred in that case? i guess its just by counting the file numbers?

The FlashTrax does support .CRW files from my 10D. I don't know if it supports .CR2 files from the 20D, 350D or other Canon cameras. Maybe you could ask Smartdisk (http://www.smartdisk.com), the manufacturer.

The hard disk is not included in the offered item!

The Flashtrax supports the CR2 filed from my 20D. I don't know about the Rebel.
I had to download a software update for the Flashtrax when I got my 20D. If that doesn't support the Rebel I imagine another update will be available.
