So my buddies are all in a local metal band and I have used their concerts as practice. The lighting has usually been horrible in the venues and I did not own a flash at the time of these shots. But, here are some of my favorites. C&C is encouraged.

Nice action in the last, but it's exposed the worst of the lot IMO.

Not too much you can change about the lighting though.
Try to get the subjects out of the center of the image.

Thank you very much. I am going to have my flash at the next concert, so that should help as well.

Yeah, but remember that flash not only adds light quantity, but it also alters the light quality.

There are two ways to use flash: Very noticeable and not so noticeable.

The first is often used with shutter drag. (Slow shutterspeed, which causes a lot of "light trails" combined with a flash to illuminate the subject) Often used when photographing HardCore bands.
The second is different, in that the photographer combines the ambient with flash in such a way that a lot of people won't even notice that flash has been used. That's harder, and not always possible in PA. But I prefer to use flash in the latter way if possible. ;)

Have a read on flash here: http://www.planetneil.com/tangents/flash-photography-techniques/
