Actually he had a great hit, but thanks to photoshop:lol:, he is not very happy with me! I know the quality of the shot is not that good, but I just started tinkering with Photoshop and am proud of this result! That program is VERY confusing!

Cool... good job with that. You got the texture of the fence almost perfect.

The better you get with PS the more you will be able to torment your kids. Good, that is in your job description. ;-)

Skip, it's a shame I have to waste most of my days working, because I could do this photography/photoshop all day! By the way, do you have an extra 70-200mm IS 2.8 lens that I can have?

I'm trying to think what I can cut and paste into his hands to replace the bat. A tennis racket without the webbing?, a fork?, a hammer? The opportunities are endless! I just wish my understanding of photoshop was endless also.

There are some great tutorials in the post processing section

Post processing section of what? I would love to get some tutorials on Photoshop. She is very moody, and hard to get any help regarding my needs. She is a tough lady, but I would like to get to know her better! Where can I get the tutorials?

Madblower4,

the Post Processing section is on this forum - towards the bottom in the "sharing knowhow" section

Have Fun!

LOL, the secret with Photoshop is to use it. Every time I use it, I usually learn something new.

My first choice (rubber chicken) didn't turn out that great.

I love it... I'm not the best by far, but my goal is to get close.

A lightsaber ? :-)

How about this???

MadJack3

Now how about placing two halves of a baseball, as if it was split by the lightsaber?

I'd love to help but I'm PS challenged.

OK, so I'm also visually challenged!!

Great work!

Thanks.

For the record, that was simple.
First I used the pen tool to create the lightsabre line. I set my brush to about 6 and the opacity to 100. I stroked the line with green. Then I increased the brush to 12 or something and stroked it again with 80% opacity... then again at 19 with something like 50%. (I don't remember exactly).

I used the circle selection tool to copy the baseball from the other picture twice. I erased half of the ball on both layers. I used the burn tool and a small brush to darken the edges of the ball. Then I applied a free transform to rotate the pieces.

Another cool trick is to copy the shape of the hand that you want to see over the object (right hand). Put that layer on top and it will display over whatever else you put under there (spatula, cat tail, golf club). You don't have to be careful when you put the object in his hands and can even move it after.

RAitch, that is awesome! And thanks for the description, it definitely helps! My son hates my "forgot to use a bat" shot, but wants me to print out an 8X10 of your light sabre destroying ball shot! Thanks again!

8x10 might not be a good idea on an image that small at JPEG10 quality.
If you send a link to the full sized file, I can re-do one for you.
