These are outside Burke Lakefront Airport (KBKL) in Cleveland. I was there shooting the marathon and had some downtime, so I snapped a few shots.

Interesting that they'd have "Phantom-cicles" at Burke Lakefront...
Nice to see Rhinos in TBirds and BAs colors. I can remember when they flew them.
Nice find!

Thanks, Jay.
The Angels started flying Phantoms in '69-'74. The Thunderbirds flew them from '69-'73.

Cool shots! Brought back some great memories of going there for the Indy races and air shows over the 10 years or so I lived in Erie, PA!

Nice pics.
seems strange seeing an RF-4 as a Tbird though

I was just as surprised as anyone. It was cold. It was 40 degrees at the start of the race and "warmed" up to about 53. The wind coming off the lake was wicked cold, too.

"Phantom-cicles"
Man I was tired last night. I didn't even notice the term Jay used.

Great shots!
I have a spot in my hart for this bird... While growing up in Niagara Falls, NY my Grandparent's house was right "under" the flight path when they were coming from the west to land at the Niagara Falls Airbase... I miss the noise (believe it or not), nothing sounds like a F4. I remember how sad I was when I found out the F-16s were coming and the F4s were going away, lol the 16s sounded like they were at idle compared to the F4s.

I saw the Thunderbirds many times during the Phantom era. The Roll Back To Arrowhead was one of my favorite maneuvers.

I still think that the F-4 is one of the sexiest aircraft ever produced. It just looks mean from every angle.

I think I owe John Wright a Dollar for the term "Plane-cicle" ;)

I just luv those Phantoms. They're a classic back in the 'Nam years. Saw some when vacationing near Ft Walton Beach (FL) and Miami (FL). What a sight!!

Love the F4's - nothing looks or sounds like the Phantom. When I was in my early teens I saw both teams fly these. If my memory serves correctly the last time the Blue Angels were flying the F4 was from NAS Albany GA (which is the last time I saw them in the F4) to somewhere in NY when 1 went down. Shortly there after they went to the A4 Skyhawks.

It just looks mean from every angle. I agree. Sadly, most of the mods that look so neat were added so it would stay in the air. :D
