I finally bothered to download the 1.6 version of Canon's DPP.
I like what they did.
- The thumbnails load WAY faster (as in fast) versus go take a nap for an hour if you have more then a couple.
- The number one reason I did the upgrade was I read it had a clone tool. While not as good as PS CS Heal, it will do quite nicely. It was the number one thing I wanted them to add and I never even asked them for it.

For 99% of my images I do for money, I now don't have to leave DPP. Still needs a bit of work, but Very useable for me. The number one thing it needs now is to put the WB, trim and clone tools in the same window (thus saving me time).

For artistic prints for me, I still need PS CS, but DPP has definately increased my workflow.

Other then I probably will anyway, because I can, I might otherwise be rethinking upgrading PS to CS2 version as for me I don't seem to need it as much as I did yesterday.

I realize DPP will not work for everyone, but it seems to have made my life easier adn I am getting better results at this time.

Just had to share,

I've been using EVU for most of my conversions to TIFF and then using PSCS to edit the image but I've been giving DPP 1.6 a try this past week. I'm getting very good results with it and can almost go directly to web-sized JPEG for posting. However, the one feature it doesn't do very well is sharpening and I'm finding that I still have to route the DPP output to PSCS for that final USM and stripping of EXIF info before posting on the web. Once Canon adds a good sharpening tool to DPP, I'd be able to to straight to the web without ever leaving DPP. But, of course, as you said, all the artsy-type stuff will still need to get worked on in PSCS. :)

What annoys me most about DPP is its very slow reaction time when I click on any of the item on the menu bar at the top. I end up clicking the menu item several times just to see the dropdown menu come and go a fraction of a second later. Grrrrr!
