Hi all,
I haven't been on this forum for very long. Just bought a second hand ef 80-200mm (without IS), don't own a tri/monopod. 98% of pics are coming out bad.
I have prepared a base for displaying images when I manage to take some half decent shots.
About me: I am bird watcher of 14+ years and I got the camera + lenses for taking bird photos as a "hobby" to have photo id on what I see.
The site will eventually have categories and a full directory of birds that I have seen.
Here it is: http://www.obsessomedia.com/johnphoto/index.html
Would like to know what everyone thinks of it so far and I hope you all bookmark it, check back on it and give me feedback on my photos so I can improve!
Thanks all
John

As a website I like the black and white feel, but you said you were a bird photographer, so the black and white look may not be appropriate. If you want feedback on your site, then I would wait until you have more content and post a c&c.

The home page looks like a great start but I believe you need more content to get a fair opinion.
Where will you link your new pages?

Hi,
Yes I know, I designed and coded it in about 40-60mins. I am still sorting through the 2% of photos that are coming out "acceptable", need to crop them all, create thumbnails and then decide how to display them.
The links will go just above the main photo or just below.
How about my first B/W photo, how do you think that came out? It was taken after sun down and it was in a very dark area of the forest.

Lose all the br tags, use margins as you've set a class.
Also seperate your structure from you content properly, you're using when you could be using the Span tag instead.
As to design, grey on grey text just doesn't work for many people the low contrast as tires the eyes very, very quickly.
Other than that I can't say much more as it's only a single page.

I may have cropped some of the left, but that's just me. Other than that, I think the B/W looks good....good contrast etc.:D

1: WHY DO YOU USE CAPS IN TITLE?
2: Get favicon
3: Your title isn't very descriptive
4: The links to Birds and Black and White (clickable areas) should be centered, if you know what I mean. Well, the text should be in the center of the clickable area.

Hi,
I am actually a professional webdesigner so these comments are "interesting" in a way.
I spent around 10-15 mins in photoshop and 30-40 mins doing the little coding that needed doing. Its all just a base, the menu at the top with extend further with more categories, the text will be replaced with images from photoshop coded in a proper menu style.
This is not a site which needs finding on google or other search engines so I have done no SEO and will not bother either.. It's just going to be a display area for myself to keep a photo record of the birds I see (I'm a birdwatcher) and also the odd other picture I feel is interesting (and also to get feedback on the photos by you guys).
1. Caps in the title, no particular reason for that.
2. I don't personally feel a favicon does much at all. Waste of the little spare time I have sorting that out :)
3. Title? you mean hobby photographer? If so, that's all I am, doesn't really need to say much more than that.. I'm not planning on going pro or selling photos anytime soon.
4. Menu is just temp for now..
I recently managed to get on to flickr and for now I think I will leave my website. Use flickr instead, easier quicker and I have so limited time..
Anyway, thanks all!

I like the first page! But what is favicon?
I created this website with iWeb. I took a class in html and it was very hard and challenging. I did enjoy it once my website was validated and had no errors.
