I saw that the Epson store had their P-2000 in stock. I ordered one and it arrived yesterday. I was surprised it arrived with version 1.01 firmware. Although there was a notice in the box letting me know the new version was available and where to download it from.

It seemed odd that there were two sets of P-2000 Basics manuals in the box. Each packaged with an identical CD’s. Both manuals were in English and had the identical 64 pages. The only difference was on the back cover one stated Printed in Japan and the other Printed in USA. They both carried the code CPD-18999.

The P-2000 works as advertised and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of used out of it, except maybe not with this one. The picture display is outstanding, except for one pixel in the center of the display that’s got a bad case of the blues. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/icons/icon5.gifhttp://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif

Has anyone else had this type of problem? And has anyone had any bad experiences with the Epson Store?

It is not that uncommon for there to be 'dead pixels on a TFT screen. You often see warnings to that effect on laptop computers. Unless there are a lot, then it is regarded as acceptable (at least by the manufacturer :) )

In my P-2000 manual (p12) it states that "the LCD panel may contain a few small bright or dark spots and that these are normal and do not mean that the LCD panel is damaged in any way"

I found this statement on page 62 in the PDF User Guide.

Using the LCD
❍ The LCD panel on this product may contain a few small bright or dark spots. These are normal and do not mean that your LCD panel is damaged in any way.

Guess I should be relieved that I have only one bright spot and not several. I was hopping that for $500 all 307,200 pixels (640 x 480) would be working. If my math is correct 99.9996745% of the pixels are fine. Yet that one blue dot is visible in most pictures.
