So I stayed for about 200 laps before venturing off to the next assignment. It was an absolute madhouse @ PIR...apparently they sold out the venue and 100,000+ were on hand. I would appreciate any comments or criticisms! TIA.

How can you ask for criticism for those shots? Those are incredible!! If you get a chance, can you list settings etc. that you used for those. And as far as leaving after 200 laps, you probably eliminated 3 hours of traffic! I've been to some races, and we don't even head to the car for at least 2-3 hours, because all you would do is sit and idle. Again, great shots!!

They are great shots, You really caught the feeling of the race, The shot of the crew member scraping the tire is something that most people don't see. Look forawrd to seeing more.

They are great shots! Judging by the clouds, the lighting probably wasn't the best, so to get such sharp crips shots under those conditions is no mean feat.
What lens(es) were you using?

khiemluu: was using 20D, 70-200 IS, 50 1.4, and 18-55 EF-S. Everything shot handheld. Ideal lens would have been a 400 2.8 IS, and a 1D MK II body would have helped with the focusing in some conditions as well. I need 15k lol.

I've shot with the 400 2.8 IS before and just love it. Truly the ultimate motorsports lens in my opinion. With the crop factor of the 20D it is a very good length...now about that $$$... :)

I am normally not a NASCAR fan but your captures are fantastic!
they really convey the excitement of the event. Good job even with the 'less than perfect' equipment.
Just proves the axiom: "It's the magician, not the wand."
