I learned a LOT from this little one, and found out that I have a ways to go. Babies are MUCH harder to photograph that I realized. She did NOT want to lay on her tummy or her back! She also soiled one bg before we hardly got started, I don't have a lot of extras for accidents hense the diapers, though I would have preferred not to have them in the pics.
Please feel free to let me know what I should work on. Thanks!

Great job for your first newborn!! yes they are super hard!!
1. The background, towels and diaper are blown, were they like that in SOOC or was that something you did in PP, I like my pictures bright too but that might be to much.
2. I would crop in a lot closer, you lose the baby in the picture, also looks like there is some kind of halo around the baby.
4. I'm not digging the tutu very much, its very large and over powering, I would probably crop this is much closer around the face, her face looks so peaceful and serine in this shot. Maybe include a little bit of the tutu. I prefer to wait to do tutus until 6 months.
6 & 7 I would make into landscapes the portraits just don't make sense to me.
5,6 & 7 I would burn the black more, give the b&w's more contrast, baby looks gray.

I like what you went for. Horizons are a must to watch. Like the chair photo.. its a bit tilted and also not head on. also I dont like how the towels are leaning in the first. This is caused because of the ripples in the edge on the right hand side. Maybe altinating the way you lay the towel down would help to even it out a bit.

Thanks for the feedback!! It is VERY MUCH appreciated!!
The blown towels in #1 were from my pp. I had the dad's arm in the bg and had to clone it out. I'll have to spend a little more time trying to pp this one correctly from the original.
I also have more close ups of both #2 and #4, maybe I'll take a 2nd look at those.
I do have a quick question on how to improve, if you don't mind. ...
The baby had a little juandice (sp?) How should I go about properly adjusting skin tones for newborns? Or do you normally stick to B&W and just make much lighter on the skin tone than what I have done with my B&W conversions?

Thanks! I think I might just have to try the chair shot again on the next baby. I liked the concept but you're right about the horizons. I do have a close up of her on the chair that I'm hoping will look good enough to use this time.
You are also right on the towel ribbing. I think her dad's (cloned out hand holding babies back) might have also pulled it down a little. I might try placing cardboard between the layers next time as well as alternating the ripples in the towels.
Thanks again!

I would in Photoshop, isolate the baby (usually on his/her own layer) and adjust the colors to boost the blues and reds a tad to compensate. A little "spot" coloring may also be in order depending on the severity. Then I would marry the baby image back to the original background.
