Hi guys,

Here are a few pictures taken at Old Warden. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible, very windy, so a lot didn't fly, but I shot those in the hangars.

Static shots taken with 5D and 24-70 L at ISO 400 no flash

Flying shot with 50D and 100-400 L.

Gallery link (http://www.slimsphotos.net/slimsphotos/images/Aircraft/OldWardenMay09/index.html) 120 pics in total

Excuses below:
Wind was strong enough that it became a problem keeping the 100-400 on target, then it rained twice, interspersed with bright sunshine. Typical british weather.

Enjoy, Chris

Thanks guys. Found the fatal flaw with a big lens and strong wind, now I know how a weather vane feels :-)

I think pic 5. is a Dornier Do-28 Skyservant, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong...

You are not wrong Cliffie, I googled and it is indeed a Dornier Do-28 Skyservant.

I looked at that Gypsey Moth and marveled at the feat of Sir Francis Chichester - to fly that far in such an aircraft - impressive

and I loved your shots, too. Well done. Thanks.

Thanks John. Looking in the hangars at Old Warden and seeing some of the things that they still fly is just crazy, but I'll be back when there is less wind to shoot them :-)

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I had planned to be there last weekend, then Duxford on the sunday, but didn't bother when I saw the weather forecast. I have plenty of shots of all the main aircraft that fly there, I shot all of those above a couple of weeks ago at the airshow and was disappointed because of the grey skies in the background. I have shot them previously with better skies.

I have taken shots of the Avro triplane and Bristol boxkite (replicas) in the air, but the really old stuff has never flown when I have been there. One day, I will manage to be there when the conditions are right. I hope that you manage it too.

Great series of shots here. Excellent color, detail and exposure, not to mention the cool aircraft.

Thanks again guys.

Sandpiper, I also did Duxford on the sunday, still processing the pics, but the wind was a real pain again. I'm thinking of going back to Old Warden for the summer display on June 7th, as I'm over there on vacation anyway. Hope to get less wind and more flyers :-)
