That's a BIG SOB! But I thought carriers were named after US Presidents. How long will her refit take?

Brings back memories of when I was in the Navy. I was on an FF and we used to do "Plane Guard Duty". I was a pilot rescue swimmer. We used to have to follow the Vinson around during flight ops just in case a pilot had to ditch. It was my job to go in the water to rescue the pilot.
I used to have to sit for 6-8 hrs in a wet suit, in the heat. Not fun.
I have a few pics from that experience, but it was film and my scanner is down right now.
Awesome shots of a great ship!

Back in the 80s when I lived in the bay area, my father-in-law worked at Mare Island. He worked on the Carl Vinson there. I guess it finally made it around the world to the east coast :).

Very cool shots. I was on the Enterprise once back in the early 80's. I'll never forget the awe when I stepped onto the deck...

They are huge
I wish Aus had a carrier but one carrier has more aircraft than our Airforce :O
