Self Portrait

Took this one in front of an east-facing window with a sheer curtain over it. Morning sunlight makes really nice lighting, IMO. I just wish the window didn't have those square panes in it that casts the shadows across my face. The photo is nothing spectacular but I like the way the sunlight hit my eye and made it kind of glowy.

Yea, nothing really great about this photo, but like you said, the way the light hit your left eye is pretty neat. You've got nice eyes.

Thanks! Yeah, I have no delusions that this photo has any real artistic quality, but then again not all photos have to be dripping with it either.

go back and let the panes of the windows hit your face without trying to cover them up. Direct shadows would look interesting.

I think the shadows add to the image. If more pronounced, it would be a cool B&W.

I tried it in B&W myself but I like the color of my eyes better.

I would've done it w/ the curtain drawn back to allow the direct sunlight to hit my face, but it was so bright I couldn't help squinting so I had to close them.

I found another one that makes my eyes look really cool. I never knew my eyes looked like that until owning this camera.

don't know if you're latina but you have that beautiful exotic latina look. you might also try experimenting with "the golden hour"-the time right before sun goes down.

i like the tilted angle of your face but avoid shooting up your nose. you're right about the sparkly colors in your eyes-very glowing. i'm not thrilled about that window shadow. you have gorgeous red wavy hair.

i say go outside and try the portrait in that yellow evening sun glow. warm colors really compliment your medium biege skin, coffee eyes and wne hair.:D

Wow, what a compliment! :) You're so sweet. I'm not latina though... actually, I have a lot of Italian in me. :) My real hair color is brown. In fact, my roots are showing so I need to go back to the salon soon. Hehe.
