wow....it took you 1:30 minutes to just open the box? i would have ripped that box open in less than 10 seconds.
it would have been more interesting if you had a girl in a bikini open unboxing the items.

It really made me laugh, I am three times John's age and get just as excited as he does, my wife joined me in the fun as we watched the video, she laughed because she has seen me doing the same thing so many time since I started in photography.
Well done John, enjoy your new toys and your photography, good on ya mate.

You have to be 18 to drink legally, isn't it 21 in the US? Thanks for the comments guys, I've just been out shooting the boss of australian fruit, now sitting in the carpark waiting for mum to get back from the shop haha =]
Today I used both strobes, but the black sheets taken off the umbrellas with the strobes pointing straight through onto white background and they came out great.. Will post when I get home...

Hi Casey,
Congrats, I bought 3 myself but locally from Syd this week for an upcoming model shoot. Did you buy the CE version from B&H or do they only sell the FCC version?

casey,
yeah look at your box does it say CE on the back? In Aus were suppose to use this version not that the other FCC won't work in Aus. Not sure if you were aware when you bought them which is why I bought from d-d.
caseyjohnphotography
22nd of May 2009 (Fri), 09:01
not sure doesn't say CE anywhere i can't seem to find it..

22nd of May 2009 (Fri), 09:52
sorry it was a sticker on my box that said CE compatible but I also found it on my manual page 3 when it said "congratulations on your purchase of.... this is CE compatible"
What does it say on your manual?
http://www.pocketwizard.com/inspirations/technology/frequency/
check the Aust frequency to be used the 433 CE version

Yeah I really don't think the Fed Police can really charge you for using their frequencies right?
siddr20
23rd of May 2009 (Sat), 19:44
NB: Our PocketWizards use the 433mhz frequency which is NOT the same as the US spec PocketWizard which uses 344.04mhz. In Australia the maximum output power in the 344mhz frequency is limited to 10 "microwatt". PocketWizards output at 1 "milliwatt" which renders US spec PocketWizards legally inoperable in Australia. Each PocketWizard is a single unit that acts as either a transmitter or receiver. Two or more PocketWizards are required to trigger off-camera flash units or other cameras.
Hope this helps in regards to that question above..

sidd,
He'll be fine as he got 3 of the same regardless if right or wrong version for aus. He just needs to make sure to match his light meter to the same spec also. I haven't heard anyone being caught by using 344mhz frequencies in Aus.. yet..
