Once you get to Amsterdam you should see that the majority of the city is photogenic. Amazing architecture and beatiful street/canal scenes.
Dam square is in the centre and is probably a good starting spot. It's certainly a big tourist spot.
WARNING: Do NOT under any circumstances feel tempted to take pictures of the girls in the windows. Taking pictures of the girls in the red light area is strictly forbidden and is self policed by the girls and their associates - I've seen a few people fall foul of it and it's not pretty. I think I would rather the police catch me!!

What's the red light area and why is it so taboo to take pictures of the girls there?
I've never been to amsterdam, I heard the whole city was owned by the Hells Angels, though.

The red light area is where the ladies of the night (prostitutes) hang out. They stand in windows lit by red light. It's taboo to take pictures because they are very scantily clad and the women don't want you taking pictures of them to put on your website or even for your "personal use". They are prostitutes and if you wanna photo, you gotta pay.
I don't think it's owned by the Hells Angels, but you can certainly see some dodgy characters around.
