I never really tried hard to save up for anything. Now, I have my inspiration, and it WILL be met, darnit! Thus far, I have somewheres around $230'ish. This 70-200 f/4 WILL BE MINE! *evil laughter ensues* lol

I'd spend some of it on a new keyboard. That one looks like it'd be a killer on your wrists. :)

Good luck saving the money, it'll certainly be worth it.

Oh my gosh!.. Looks like it should be teathered to a TRS 80

Geez man! If you can afford to throw a $50.00 bill in there why not just go buy the thing and pay it off? That's what plastic is for.

THAT'S AWESOME!!! i have 4 jars like that! LOL one is for my trip to Vancouver this summer... an EF 17-40 f/4L USM, 50mm f/1.8 mkII and the EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro. I might have to drink some more coffee to get another jar for the 70-200 f/4. LOL. I have a system too, whatever amount of money I want to save up, I always try to put 80% to my vancouver, B.C. trip; 10% to the 17-40 and 5% towards the 50mm and 100mm. I should be able to get the 50mm in two weeks. I know the 50mm is cheap, but I can't deviate from my system. :)

I used to have a TRS-80 and DMP-400 setup... For something that ran TRS-DOS and Basic on 48 kilobytes of RAM and dual floppy drives, it was an excellent computer. Almost wish I'd kept it.

I have a copper pot with a total of about, hmmm A bunch of quarters for my next camera. The amount in it wouldn't even cover the tax on the camera strap, never mind buy the camera.

I like simple, basic keyboards too, I hate those fancy expensive ones. Work got me a new machine with a fancy expensive keyboard, I went and got myself a 10 year old basic keyboard from a cupboard and used that instead!

Maybe I need a jar like that... I tend to buy whatever I want and worry about it later. The 70-200 2.8 IS is calling me very loudly right now...

HAhahaha. Man if i did that, I'd be takin money from the jar to spend it on other things.
especially if the opening is "THAT" big.

I bet you can't wait to get that lens... you'll be happy with it. I know I am =)

I hope you save up for your lens. I really like it as I use it all the time.

As for a keyboard, I went wireless w/ my keyboard and mouse (Logitech). Not that expensive and I have no regrets. I always hated the cord on the mouse when I play Doom 3.

I've been doing the same thing. Although I don't have a big picture on my "penny jar". Maybe I'll print one off. So far I have about $350 CDN in the jar to go towards my 70-200 f/4 lens.

LOL! It couldn't be a TRS-80...that keyboard has a Caps Lock key...

Interesting idea...I hope he can save up enough for his lens.

Thanks, all. I hope to have the lens by the time summer gets started.

As for the keyboard, it's just a preference. I have a sweet logitech wireless duo keyboard (black) upstairs gathering dust in the attic now. I may just pull it out, now that I've done away with my home theater PC :)
